Hotel Stay and Play Ideas
Citizen Hotel
The Citizen Hotel is retro pimp. Awesome building overlooking downtown. There could be a Ghostbusters movie reference or two to be made; just insert a stay puff or key master joke. The rooms are spritely and certainly feel hi end. If you time it right you could have a birds eye view of an event at Ceaser Chavez park. Afternoons could be made more fun at Insight coffee around the corner and especially venturing to Estelle's for French original style Macaroons. For dinner reservations you could stay in house at the Grange or walk a block or two to Frank Fats. Don't forget a slice of banana pie! Cap the evening off with a stroll around the Capitol at night with it all lit up. Wow! The Capitol at night is for lovers. Remember to put the oooo in Capitol!
Embassy Suites
Right on the river for the views and an o so short jaunt into Old Sac. Time it right with the River Cats season and it's a natural or just take a Train Ride down the river form Old Town. Old Town offers so much but at night if you're not tuckered out you can walk the river bank in the glow of old town and the Ziggurat(pyramid) building across the river in West Sac.
Inn at Parkside
The Inn is housed in an old mansion like house and also much newer structure next door. Beyond being a place to sleep Parkside is a Spa destination for singles and couples. Not too far away is the original Insight coffee and right out the front steps is Southside park with the big lake and flying aluminum rv hovering over it. The tower theatre is not too far away nor the tasty café to get hidden it's lush jungle. For dinner try Jaimes Broadway Grille. If you don't see a big sign out front don't worry it doesn't have one. Just find 427 Broadway and actually go inside,
Lake Natoma Inn
River life abounds around this hotel perched above the river in Folsom. A short adventure away is old town Folsom for places like Snooks, Fat Rabbit Pub, or a show at the Powerhouse Pub. Dinner suggestion would be the Sutter Street Steakhouse but don't forget to be on the The Cliff House deck across the river as the sun goes down. If you do this Stay and Play in winter you have the option of Folsom's open air ice rink.
