Paul McCartneyWe were there. We did it. We avoided traffic. Date night sacramento is part of history as we were part of the masses to open Golden 1 Center with Paul McCartney. To have a better low stress evening we got a hotel room and took off from work early. How cool was that. Very. Paul was still a rockstar and worked it on stage. My wife the "Beatles Girl" from her High School had an amazing time taking it all in. What a way to spend a date night sacramento. And yes we spent.
So we were at Home bored saturday afternoon and luckily we don't have kids so we can just get up and go. A suggestion was made for a road trip and we were off just like that. A spur of the moment date night Sacramento. Although technically it was Date Night Folsom. We parked and strolled the old town promenade. Checking out the store fronts as we walked and trying not to get attacked by any glow walkers from a race event being held in Folsom. Walking up Sutter Street till we had to go into Dorothea's.
Being Fall it was all decked out for the season. A little bit pumpkin, a little bit turkey, and a big part santa. Lots of nice stuff to look at but we didn't end up taking anything home. The real "stop" was just ahead. Just across the block. Just Across some traffic. it was Snooks. Chocolate and Fudge heaven in Folsom. we grabbed a small morsel of fudge and we were satisfied with out folsom trip for a date night sacramento. Winchester Mystery HouseThe Crazy Lady is not my wife. But, Mrs. Winchester. She was on a mission to continually build thanks to a psychic's advice and felt persecuted by ghosts of people killed by the Winchester Rifles. So cuckoo.. Since they don't allow inside the house photography I can't really share the door/room madness or the short watch your headness. But, lets just say the house is not very homey.
After the 65 Minute tour through the warm house we needed a drink. So Cheryl grabbed her parasol to keep the sun off her and we crossed the street to trendy Santana Row in San Jose. We walked around trying to avoid all the new money douchy hipsters but just could escape their snotty conversations. We did find some peace and quiet along with some cold drinks in a nice little tea room though. Paris Baguette SacramentoDriving home one day I noticed a sign for some new businesses going in on howe ave. The new building stands where TGI Fridays used to be and nothing is actually inside the new building but three restaurants will eventually be. The one that caught my eye was called Paris Baguette so I went online and did some research. it looked heavenly with all the Pastries. So we had to visit one. There were a few locations of Paris Baguette in the Bay Area and since we we're going thee any way we had to check it out. Delish!. Two buffet rows o pastries another section for bread, a cooler full of drinks/desserts, and a grab n go area for savories. Plus tea and coffee behind the counter to be served. This place will be a great Date Night addition to go to. I emailed the company and they expect a early/mid 2017 grand opening. I know who's excited about that; THIS GUY!
Road Trip Apple HillSo i went a bit off topic on my Honey Do list on a random day off. Instead I took a lovely drive up past Placerville to the land of Apple Opportunities.
Les Baux
We decided to drop in and see what it was like. The restaurant itself underwhelming and I'm guessing that they are still trying to figure out what to do. But, I can tell you the Croissant Bread Pudding was still smashing.
My wife Cheryl loves retro. Not the 60's, 70's, or the new fad of the 90's. She's old school. Think Gatsby, 30's and 40's with fringe, and lace. So we decided to get out for a day of fun and head somewhere old. We got it in Placerville and Cheryl got a pair of vintage gloves as well.
Bonus was an arcade area where we won enough tickets playing ski ball for some bitchin temporary tattoos. Course the best was playing find the hidden tattoos later.
A Old Spaghetti Factory is located right next door so it does make for a dull dinner date night extravaganza. Try to relieve your teenage years and this is one fun date night idea. WINCO?We enjoy shopping at WINCO. There I said it. We usually drive to Rocklin for a WINCO trip but they finally opened one closer to us. Country Club Plaza on Watt ave is now buzzing with all that is WINCO. |
